hypertext builds context
topics: [[social media]],[[context]]
links live within and establish context. they tell you what a piece of information means within the confines of the greater network. a thing is not just a thing on its own, but an expansion, rebutter, tangent, example, follow-up to others.
navigating from one document to a related document via hyperlink is a means of building context around a query or thought.
especially in knowledge management, without links, our thoughts drift; too many drifting thoughts become noise.
